Strengthening Livelihoods for Better Living
Overview
The programmes focus on strengthening livelihoods for better living by integrating water and sanitation support with region-specific development initiatives. Efforts include improving access to safe water, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing income opportunities through targeted interventions. In parallel, regionally tailored programmes such as those supported through institutional partnerships and initiatives in Sikkim aim to build community resilience, improve infrastructure, and create long-term livelihood opportunities for rural households.
Animal Husbandry
Location - Sikkim, Soreng
The project covers 180 tribal households under the Tribal Development Fund (TDF), supported by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and is implemented across three Gram Panchayat Units in Soreng Block, Soreng District, Sikkim. Over a five-year period, it includes livestock distribution in the first three years and market linkage support in the last two, providing goats or pigs (based on preference) in a 1:4 male-to-female ratio to promote income generation and sustainable livelihoods.
Watershed & Sanitation
Location - Birbhum
This project aims to rejuvenate local water resources through groundwater recharge and drinking water conservation. It involves constructing recharge wells, rainwater harvesting systems, and promoting water-saving practices.

Parivartan
Location - Meghalaya & Tripura
This project is a village development programme in Meghalaya and Tripura focused on creating sustainable livelihoods through handloom and bamboo enterprises. Branding initiatives have been completed, including training and cooperative registration. Water harvesting is currently under process in Meghalaya. A solar-based handpump has been installed in Tripura, along with completed school renovation work. Solar street lights are being implemented in both Tripura and Meghalaya. A new proposal for expansion in the North East has been submitted, and hospital construction work has begun in Meghalaya.
