Strengthening Foundational Skills of Children (3 - 8 Years)

Overview

This programme aims to address the challenges of Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among children aged 3–8 years who are enrolled in the government education system. The initiative focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that enables children to strengthen their foundational skills during the most critical years of development.

Urban Education

Location - Howrah, Hooghly & Kolkata

The program targets socio-economically disadvantaged children aged 3–8 across 20 schools and 10 community centers in Kolkata, aiming to improve school readiness, age-appropriate learning competencies, and family engagement in education. Community Educators deliver joyful, activity-based learning using TLM in both government schools and community settings, while parents and teachers receive foundational training to support children’s holistic development..

Special Education

Location - Kolkata

The Charaibeti project works with children with disabilities belonging from marginalized communities of Kolkata. The program mainly focuses on providing remedial education, with overall development in the domains of communication, social, occupational, academic and recreational skills. All the current beneficiaries of the project are children with intellectual disabilities. Currently, all the children and their mothers are trained and adept at working with digital tools on the online mode.

Rural Education

Location - Birbhum

Deliver quality preschool education for children aged 3–6 years while training youth as community-based educators and strengthening the capacity of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) through continuous on-ground support. The initiative also focuses on enhancing parenting skills through community-driven efforts and encouraging active participation of the community in daily Anganwadi activities.

Adolescent Empowerment Program

Location - Kolkata

Regular support is provided to dropout adolescents (14+) by expert OS teachers to complete Class 10 and 12, following a structured manual. Students receive skill training, life skills, career counselling, and soft skills development, along with continuous follow-up through home visits and mobilization. The program also focuses on training teachers, engaging stakeholders, and strengthening mothers in the community.
